Four kittens in danger were reported to Laura Maylon, director of Mini Cat Town (animal advocates in San Jose, California).
When she brought them to her, she detected a dreadful sickness that killed one of the fluffies. The kittens have panleukopenia, a viral condition caused by feline parvovirus, better known as feline distemper, according to tests.
“We started prophylactic treatment for the remaining kittens, Ben, Cassandra, and Wayne,” Laura says.
Panleukopenia is highly contagious, and we knew with a heavy heart that they had close contact with an infected person. Day after day, we measured their weight and monitored their appetite, hoping to notice the first signs of the disease in time.”
With bated breath, Laura entered the room every morning, waiting for the whole trinity to run out to meet her. The woman maintained a restrained optimism and did everything possible to keep the kittens strong, healthy, and clean.
She checked on them every four hours, gave them medicine twice a day, and awoke several times during the night to look after them.
The kittens were constantly adequately fed and weighed daily to ensure that any signs of weight loss or stoppage were not overlooked. You had to keep an eye on the kids since they were in danger.
When the trio was over two weeks old, Laura and her entire family let out a huge sigh of relief.
Kittens, having survived such a difficult test, emerged victorious from it, with an appetite and normal weight. “Miraculously, none of them showed any signs of illness,” says Laura.
After weeks of tight surveillance, the brothers and sister were finally certified healthy and given the opportunity to go around the house and show off their jumping talents.
“They are incredible jumpers, jumping up to my tabletops despite the fact that they are still quite small.” They are quite naughty and like to delve into and penetrate everything.
They’re always on the go, climbing into every nook and corner, scouring the surroundings, crawling over Laura’s shoulders, and exploring.
“All three of them love to sit on my shoulders, and Kaska also bites my ears!”
Nothing will be able to stop them now that they are solidly on their feet and ready to take the globe by storm. They like making friends with the other foster kittens and showing them all they require.
They enjoy venturing into new territory together. They found the window and the cat entertainment that came with it.
“I’m overjoyed since they’ve grown so much!” It’s reassuring to hear these guys are doing well.”
“A couple of days ago, Wayne was drinking through a nipple, and now he’s eating porridge from a bowl,” Laura explains.
“Casca and Ben are exceptionally vivacious and fun. Wayne is more affectionate, but he also enjoys exploring and was the first to get onto the tabletop.
