A litter of kittens was discovered last week by a Perth, Australia, family concealed in a tool bag in their garden. A stray cat arrived to provide refuge for her young, but left them behind when mom left.
The homeowners were unable to accept the kittens since they had a dog, but they did get in touch with Tara Hutch, owner of The Mad Catters Inc.
“(We believe) the cat mother went out in the rain hunting for a new nest for her cherished kittens. She took them outside and placed them in a tool bag that was placed above the ground, Tara relates.
Knowing that kittens would most likely survive with a breastfeeding cat mother, animal rights activists set a humane trap for the cat, hoping that she would be caught.
“We didn’t give up.”
The mother cat had to be captured, saved, and brought back to the safety of her guardians after two nights and a lot of perseverance.
The cat Bella was first quite reticent, covering her face and avoiding eye contact with humans, but she was unable to conceal her joy upon spotting kids.
They were quickly recognized by her, and she started licking them one by one.
Bella will never have to go hungry or have to worry about providing food for her kids again, Tara claims. She can also finally unwind in safety, free from predators and harsh weather.
Bella is a caring, gentle mother who satisfies all the needs of kittens. She visibly enjoys her new surroundings, all the soft blankets she can pick up with her paws, and a continuously available source of food.
After having her children, Mommy Bella began to learn trust, and made progress every day.
As their babysitter gets to know her, she stops hiding in her nest when Tara enters the room. Tara continues, “She’s shy but develops a lovely relationship with me.
She seems anxious when she hears the voices of my other cats, which is fair considering that she has five kittens to watch after! But when the kittens mature and find new homes, we may build on her feline
Thanks to timely help, Bella was able to recover from a cold. She is liberated and has already settled in perfectly with her kids.
For a few days, the kittens waved before our eyes. They have become more playful and are already spending more time outside the nest.
The happy little furries have explored every corner of their room and are now ready to jump, run, climb and play with all their might.
“They have learned to wash themselves. What could be more charming,” says Tara.
“A gray and tricolor girls, and the other three (red) boys.”
Bella, the kind cat, did all in her power to keep the five kittens safe. All the pleasures of home life are now available to them as they live in overexposure.
