A guy from the Bronx, New York, discovered a family of cats in an apartment building’s basement last month.

She was so amiable that the locals at first assumed she was someone’s cat, but no one came to claim her. The cat is actually a stray who brought her kittens inside to protect them from the horrors of the outside world.

The person who discovered the animals went to the shelter for assistance because the landlord did not let them to be kept in the basement.

The New York Animal Care Centers’ volunteer adopter Jess Thoren discovered about a furry family in need of foster care. She gave them a warm welcome and gave the mother cat the name Claudia.

“The basement is not the right place for a mother with children. I’m glad they’re safe now,” Jess says.

Sweet Claudia was exhausted, but happy to have a comfortable home to raise her offspring. She ate an entire bowl of food and settled into the heated bed with the kids, Cassia and Iggy.

A loving mother has finally managed to make up for lost sleep in a comfortable home environment.

“My sweet Claudia loves attention and craves to have her tummy scratched. She constantly rubs against me and purrs,” says Jess.

“She is also a wonderful mother and protector of her children. She is still sensitive to noises in the house. But as soon as she realizes that nothing threatens her children, she quickly calms down and again begins to ask for affection.

A second orphaned kitten, which also required foster care, was sent to the shelter two weeks later.

The girl was discovered by herself in the Bronx, hiding beneath a rock. Since she is only three weeks old, Jess continues, “I didn’t actually intend to adopt another kitten, but the shelter staff informed me that she need many feedings throughout the day.

Jess offered to adopt the kitten even though she was aware that such young kittens should be bottle-fed or, better yet, placed with a nursing foster mother.

During the quarantine period, Jess fed her by the hour several times a day, and the girl, who was named Lucia, ate well.
Ten days later, Claudia’s mother was introduced to her new daughter. She immediately treated her as her own and divided her maternal care into three. Lucia was elated – now she had a mother, mother’s milk and new brother and sister to hug.

No more wandering the streets – the woolen family has a great future, someone’s kind hands and their own houses are waiting for them.

People help the adorable mother cat in continuing to love and care for all of her offspring, including her adopted daughter.

Claudia will be a wonderful friend to anyone is fortunate enough to adopt her!
