Sister cats Pumpkin and Spice were in poor condition when they were taken to an animal shelter. Despite having upper respiratory infections and foggy eyes, they sought solace in one another.
Pumpkin calico was weak and clung to her sister Spice for support who has Dalmatian-like markings on her chest and legs. They need a foster home and a committed someone to provide for them constantly.
When Mini Cat Town co-founder Thoa Bui learnt of their situation, she didn’t think twice before bringing them into her rescue.
Pumpkin and Spice, two feline sisters, were in poor condition when they were taken to an animal shelter. Despite their sore throats and clouded eyes, they found solace in one another.
Pumpkin calico was quite weak and clung to Spice with all of her might who has Dalmatian-like markings on her chest and legs. They required a foster home and a committed caregiver who would be available constantly.
When Thoa Bui, a co-founder of Mini Cat Town, learnt of their situation, she didn’t think twice about bringing them into her care.
After being in critical care for many days, Pumpkin brightened up and started moving. As they began their joint recovery process, Spice stood by her side encouraging her.
After only a few days of being in foster care, Spice showed significant progress. Her eye’s haziness was dissipating, and she was becoming more active every day.
Pumpkin was motivated to keep up with the recovery speed because she kept her spirits up. Pumpkin was starting to get bigger and fluffier as the edema in her eyes was decreasing.
“They felt better after approximately a week, but their eyes were still receiving treatment. Once we observed them consuming food independently and interacting with one another, we knew they would be okay “Thoa said
“From the time they arrived, when they were feeling so poorly and napping a lot, to the present, their renewed vitality and liveliness are a far cry. They had a difficult treatment schedule for their eyes. We are really proud of them for their tenacity.”
While Pumpkin’s left eye remained cloudy for a while, her right eye fully recovered.
“When we feared Pumpkin’s left eye was beyond saving, it began to improve. The cloudiness nearly vanished over night.”
The feline sisters have been a couple throughout their rehabilitation. They cherish one other’s company and are rarely apart.
Pumpkin is prodded to play by the self-assured and inquisitive Spice, and she picks up some of her exuberant enthusiasm. As she attempts to follow in Spice’s paw-steps, Pumpkin is already emerging from her shell.
“After going through so much together, the girls are pretty close, and we can’t wait to find them a forever home when they’re ready. Spice is quite gregarious and enjoys playing. Pumpkin is a bit more reserved.”
Pumpkin and Spice have regained their vision and are in great condition after several weeks of recuperation and growth. Pumpkin is beginning to be friendlier and more fun as a result of seeing and imitating Spice.
