Last month saw what some are referring to as a “real-life Homeward Bound” thanks to a Texas family, a frightening event, and the joyful homecoming of a cherished lost pet.
Last month, tragedy struck as the Tally family was on the trip of a lifetime. The caravan crashed down a nearby hillside after a tire on the family’s RV blew out as it was traveling along a roadway in the Pine Tree State of Maine.
Thankfully, no one in the family was hurt, but their RV was destroyed beyond repair. Max, the family’s beloved cat, vanished, and the Tallys were shocked to discover it.
Max’s family, along with responding officers and employees of the tow truck company, began to search high and low for the missing cat. They searched the motorhome, the embankment, and the nearby forest, but they were devastated to learn that Max had disappeared, as if into thin air.
“We had kind of prepared the kids at that point that he probably wasn’t going to be found,” said Kelsey Tally.
The family returned home to the Lone Star State, fearing they would never see Max again. Meanwhile, the motorhome was taken to a storage yard, where it remained for eleven days.
The Tally family spent the following days in a state of shock and sadness, grieving their beloved cat’s loss and praying for his continued health and safety.
The Tally family got a call over two weeks after the incident, and it was unbelievable:
“On day 11, after we had finally returned to Texas, I received a call from Maine. Brian took the call, and it was Wayne. Tally: “And he said you won’t believe what happened,”
According to Bouchard of Dosties Towing Company, “one of my drivers had put the car off at around 10:30 and heard a loud meow from a cat. He believed it somebody in the parking lot joking with him, and then this large black cat came dashing out near the motorhome.”
While unsure whether Max spent his eleven-day adventure in the abandoned motorhome or the woods, the Tally family could not believe the news and immediately went to work figuring out logistics for bringing Max home.
“They. Found. Max. THEY!!!! FOUND!!!! MAX!!!”
Many people, strangers-turned-friends, jumped at the chance to be a part of such a miraculous story. Contributions from the tow truck company employees and new friends came together, and, nearly two weeks after his disappearance, Max was reunited with his family.
The Tally family wishes readers might be encouraged to believe in miracles by Max’s courageous and tenacious story:
Tally stated, “(we) prayed last night again for Max to come to our house in Texas, and this is a genuine response to prayers. Such a minor point. God is in the little things. God is excellent, and eleven days later, He is still at work. You are really loved, Max.
