Тhe Вest Way For Сat’s Мother Тo Кeep Нer Аmused During Work Сalls

In August, Georgia’s family adopted her from the Maryland’s Linda L. Kelly Animal Shelter. They recognized her right away as someone who belonged in their family.

Georgia’s mother, Wendy Bohon, told The Dodo, “I took one of my 7-year-old boys with me and told him that we had to look at all the animals, not just a few, before we pick on a family member.” He came over to her cage and said, “This is our cat, and her name is Georgia. He totally ignored me. Georgia is now our cat, and she has that name.

Georgia settled into her new home right away and immediately became very attached to her mom. She has to be with her pretty much at all times and loves “helping” her while she works. Even though she means well, Georgia’s adventures across her mom’s desk were getting a bit distracting, so Bohon came up with an idea to keep her occupied during work hours.

In order to get her to let me work, Bohon’s supervisor advised that I play her some of the YouTube bird films on my second monitor. She didn’t care too much about the birds, but as soon as the snakes started, she lost it.

Now, Georgia waits in front of the second monitor for the snakes to arrive so that she may start working once Bohon settles down at her desk and is ready to work.

“Once she sees the YouTube screen pop up, she starts chirping and meowing and then she watches the snakes, often pawing at the screen or checking under and behind the monitor to see where they went,” Bohon said. “Every time I get up from my desk and go downstairs, she comes with me, and so every time I come back upstairs she knows it’s work time, and the snakes are her ‘work,’ so she’s ready to go!”

Georgia’s work is incredibly important to her — and if her mom doesn’t turn on the snakes in a timely manner, she’ll definitely have things to say about it.

“If I don’t turn them on or don’t turn them on fast enough, she’ll bat at my hand, usually with soft paws, but if I try and ignore her, the claws come out, or [she’ll] start patting her monitor with her paw,” Bohon said. “She’s a nut!”

Georgia was always meant to be a member of her family, and now she takes her role as the desktop snake watcher very seriously.
