The RSPCA Millbrook Animal Centre staff members arrived at work one morning to a devastating scene: a box left in the shelter’s driveway with the saddest message affixed to it.
Please aid them, it begged in the message. Their birthdate is 24/08. Five 9-day-old kittens were bundled up together in a fleece jacket inside the package and were addressed as “God bless you.” The staff tried their utmost to make the kittens feel at home and comfortable because it was evident that they required attention.
“When we found the kittens we brought them into the centre to check them over,” Liz Wood, deputy manager of the RSPCA Millbrook Animal Centre, said in a press release. “They’d clearly just been taken from their mum as their tummies were full of milk.”
The shelter staff is dedicated to helping these kittens in any way they can, despite the fact that feeding the kittens nonstop is a major task.
We’ll be keeping a careful check on them and trying our best to hand-reared them all since they are flea-covered and obviously quite fragile being away from their mother at such a young age, Wood said.
The kittens are doing well so far and, given that they are so young, are quite resilient. Their favorite part of the day is obviously mealtime, and although having hardly open eyes, they still appear appreciative of the love and attention they are now receiving.
