Оne Day А Little Кitten Аrrives Аt Нome With А Strange Вaby Оn Нer Вack

Despite being less than a year old, Blanquis the white kitten is already more adept than others at understanding what it means to have an open heart.

In fact, you might argue that she is passing it on.

Yessica Rodriguez discovered Blanquis stranded in the streets close to her house in Altamira, Mexico, in December. The kitten was so young at the time, her eyes had yet to even open — so Rodriguez took it upon herself to fill in for Blanquis’ mom, raising her as a member of the family.

She had evidently noticed the affection that had enabled Blanquis to develop into a lovely little boy.

Rodriguez was preparing for work last Friday morning when she heard her husband calling out to her with a surprising announcement.

“He said, ‘You have to come down here,’” Rodriguez told The Dodo. “‘Your kitten has an animal on her back!’”

Confused about what he’d meant, Rodriguez hurried down to take a look — and sure enough, this is what she saw:

Rodriguez’s eyes were so unbelievable. In fact, Blanquis had an unexpectedly little passenger.

It was a newborn opossum, which surprised me much, Rodriguez said.

The location of the newborn opossum’s discovery and how he lost his mother are unknown, but it is evident that the animal needed a parent.

Therefore, it appears that Blanquis had no problem letting him clamber up onto her back and carried him to the safety of her house.

I am aware that their mother carries them in this manner, Rodriguez stated. He was brought to me by Blancquis.

Rodriguez reached out to a wildlife specialist to learn how to care for the baby opossum until he could be placed under expert care. For Blanquis, however, filling in for the mama opossum seemed to come naturally.

Blanquis isn’t able to feed the opossum herself, but she still dotes on him as if he were her own.

Rodriguez said, “She licks at him like it’s nothing. “Watching her care for other animals makes me feel extremely sensitive.”

Although the baby opossum will likely only be with them temporarily, seeing Blanquis save him and keep him cozy and safe for the time being has been a powerful experience for Rodriguez — knowing the kitten is continuing the legacy of love that began with her own rescue.

“It feels to me like a token of appreciation. It is very tender,” Rodriguez said. “We love Blanquis very much. She is very special.”
