Ask this fairly chubby cat named Faye how sometimes having a little extra pudge pays off.
She previously spent time in the animal shelter, where her imposing size made her difficult to ignore, but she has now found a new forever home of her own to let it all hang out in.
Faye was saved by Florida’s Jacksonville Humane Society after her first owner could no longer care for her; yet, it was obvious that she had enough of food in her previous residence. She was one of the fattest cats anybody had ever encountered, weighing a staggering 24 pounds when she arrived.
A representative for the shelter told The Dodo, “We have had a few other cats about 18 to 20 pounds in previous years, but Faye tips the scale.”
Faye is not just rather chubby, but she is also extremely jiggly. Online images demonstrate how difficult it may be to even control her (albeit a cute one).
The shelter said, “It’s like holding the cutest medicine ball in the world.”
While she’s perhaps not the most cooperative model, photos of Faye were a hit on social media. In less than 24 hours, she racked up hundreds of likes and shares on the Jacksonville Humane Society’s Facebook page. Adoption offers came pouring in after that, but one family took the initiative to ensure Faye was out of the shelter sooner rather than later.
“Her new mom drove over two hours to be first in line,” the shelter reports. “She said she felt an instant connection — they were very excited.”
Faye’s return to a healthier weight-loss plan has been emphasized by the shelter, so maybe with a better diet and consistent exercise, she will start losing weight in her new home.
We have no doubt that Faye’s new sister will take care of keeping her busy and, most importantly, loved.
