Tiger Tim is a cute orange cat that ended up abandoned and alone himself in a shelter all because of a piece of furniture. Tim’s owner, who had owned him since he was a 3-month-old kitten, gave him up to New York City Animal Care and Control (ACC), but it’s unclear why that made Tim unable to remain in his home.
Tiger Tim was rescued by Magnificat Cat Rescue from a municipal shelter and placed in a loving foster home, but the sweet tabby is bewildered and distraught about the separation from his family and home. And things are just getting worse for him.
“He refuses to eat, refuses to drink. For days we’ve been force feeding him to keep him alive,” the rescue posted on Facebook on Monday, adding that he’s lost about 3 pounds since being surrendered. “He is never aggressive; just so sad, curled into a little ball of misery.”
According to Magnificat, Tiger Tim was on the ACC shelter’s list of those who would be put to death. He may have been put to death that day if it hadn’t been for their intervention.
His rescuers were so concerned that Tiger Tim was wasting away out of misery that he’s been hospitalized, and tests on Tuesday showed that Tim’s white blood cell count is alarmingly high, indicating a possible infection.
To pay for Tim’s medical treatment, the rescue is currently holding a fundraiser.
It will take a lot of love and encouragement to help Tim get back in shape, both physically and mentally, but who knows? Maybe one day Tim will find a new home with someone who value him more than their brand-new furnishings.
