When Beth, a volunteer with Kitty Cottage, heard about a little cat in need, she jumped into action.
Because he was the runt of the litter and would have been much weaker than his siblings, it appears that his mother rejected him.
He was so very tiny for his age and although he was already three weeks old he was actually the size of a newborn.
Beth believed that he was a fighter, considering that he had already survived three weeks.
Now she had the task of getting him to take a bottle or syringe and for the first few days had to be fed in drips.
His eyes had been crusted shut, and Beth wasn’t sure if he would be able to see when they were cleansed.
He was given the name Guinness, and the entire family pitched in to make sure he was fed every hour and had lots of hugs.
After a couple of days the kitten began to actively eat and gain weight, in fact it had doubled since being rescued from the streets.
Although he was still small, Guinness had a large pair of beautiful blue eyes, and he loved getting cuddles from his humans.
His spirit and power both developed as he gained muscle, and his unwavering determination to survive astounded everyone around him. He ate a lot, perhaps because he was aware that he needed to get big and strong.
Now that he was using his newly acquired strength, it didn’t take him long to become more daring and experience the thrill of playing with all the toys that were available to him.
And his appearance dramatically changed when he reached nine weeks.
Finally experiencing a growth spurt, he has developed into a terrific cuddle buddy and purr machine.
A year down the line and Guinness has turned into a beautiful cat.
All thanks to the dedication of the family that took the time to care for and love this tiny kitten that arrived into their lives.
