It didn’t take long for Dwight’s new mother to locate him when he initially arrived at a local Kennebunk, Maine, animal shelter and fall in love. She had been considering getting a cat for a few years, and when she first spotted Dwight, she knew he was the one.
Dwight’s mother, Megan Marsh, told The Dodo that her son is “the loveliest cat I’ve ever experienced.” I was afraid I would get a cat who was aloof and simply did their own thing because I had never owned one before, but Dwight is NOT that cat! He was a big fan of belly massages, kisses, and cuddling from the very beginning. Having to be with him, he follows me throughout my residence.
Dwight was initially found as a stray in Mississippi and taken in by a foster before making the long trek to Maine to find his forever home. Marsh didn’t know too much about his life before she adopted him — until his former foster mom got in touch and told her all about his past.
While Dwight was in foster care, he’d met another foster cat named Conan, and the pair instantly became the best of friends. They spent over a year doing everything together, until it was time for Dwight to head to Maine. Conan stayed behind — but when it was finally his turn to head to the same shelter in Maine, his foster mom knew she had to reach out to Marsh to see if maybe the pair could be reunited.
Marsh was initially apprehensive, but more she gave it more thought, the more she realized it was meant to be. Before Conan was even put into the moving van, the adoption was finalized. Finally, Conan and Dwight would be reunited as brothers.
Marsh stated, “I live in an apartment and wasn’t sure whether I had enough space. “But after thinking about it, it only made sense – they used to be the best of friends, I would have been foolish not to reunite them!”
Conan was really frightened when he first got to his new house. He had experienced a lot of change and travel and wasn’t sure how to interpret it all. But the moment he met Dwight, he was a little bit more at ease. Conan’s brother assisted him in gradually coming out of his shell over the course of the days until Conan understood he was at home.
I really got up in the middle of the night to discover the two of them embracing in Dwight’s small bed. He and Dwight remembered one other and were friends once more. It was just adorable! They have merged into one. If one is present, the other is frequently nearby as well. This was without a doubt the right choice!
Conan and Dwight were apart for seven months, but as soon as they were reunited, it was as if nothing had changed. They instantly fell back into being best friends and brothers, and they’re clearly thrilled that it’ll be that way for the rest of their lives.
