Last month, an animal welfare organization was conducting a TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) programme when this adorable feline was found alone on the chilly streets.
The kitten was whisked away to Meow Village, a wild cat rescue center in Aurora, Oregon, where she was given a better life.
Meow Village had this to say:
“She was caught capturing cats to be spayed and neutered by a TNR rescuer. It was clear that the kitten needed to be examined further. She was in the arms of a Meow Village volunteer within hours after a few phone calls.”
When the little girl arrived at the rescue center, they noticed that she had a cleft lip, walked a little shakily and was malnourished. Selina, a volunteer, did not hesitate to help her.
They never reject critical or special needs kittens at the rescue center because they want them to have the same opportunity as other cats. The young girl felt better after a warm wash to get rid of the fleas; she ate a full meal and went asleep in her new bed.
Seline said, ”
“This kitten has a warm and caring personality. She eats and drinks well, and it didn’t take her long to figure out how to use the litter box.”
After taking her to a specialist, the kitten was diagnosed with hydrocephalus (increased fluid in the brain), blindness, and ataxia (lack of coordination or balance). Something that worried the volunteers a lot, since it was very likely that in the future she would present more problems and require specialized attention.
Despite all these problems, the lovely ball of fur seemed to be very happy with his life, and he only cared about enjoying his time.
While at the veterinary hospital, staff member Desirae completely fell in love with the little fighter’s attitude and decided to adopt her.
Desirae expressed her thoughts as follows:
“I couldn’t take my mind off her and the bad luck she’d had in life.” She is friendly, lively, and kind. I realized I had to do something to assist her, so I volunteered to adopt her as a hospice adoption (plus she’d have access to 24-hour veterinarian care).”
She was ready to provide him and her husband with all of the love, attention, and care they required to have a happy life.
Penelope Fern was the kitten’s name, and she quickly settled into her new home and began to demonstrate her happiness. Her new family didn’t take long to notice her love of eating, her affinity for hugging, and her unique choice in toys.
Meow Village had this to say:
“Don’t be fooled by her little size; she has a voracious appetite. She informs you how hungry she is as soon as she smells her meal and doesn’t stop eating until her dish is clear.”
She is mostly blind, but that doesn’t stop her from doing things that normal cats do. Penelope can see a little light and shadow, which is enough for her to investigate her world.
Desirae said:
“Her personality is amazing. She loves to run as fast as lightning, chasing after her brothers and sisters, even though she is very small. She loves to play with all her toys and climb on the back cushions of the sofa and jump like Superman’.
According to Desirae, whenever her husband relaxes at home, especially on the sofa, the little girl is always there to keep him company.
She enjoys spending time and playing with the other cats in the neighborhood, and despite her little size, she will challenge them. But, most importantly, she’s an expert hugger who makes sure her human father, Danny, isn’t alone while she’s at home.
Penelope’s family is prepared to care for her in the way she deserves, and they will fight alongside her for a better life.
