This is Fat Fred, a chubby cat that spends his days lazing at the Louisiana-based Furry Friends Animal Hospital.
However, Fred’s presence has caused some confusion.
Fred was adopted from a local animal shelter by veterinarian Marcia Riedel, at the time weighing in at a whopping 29 pounds. Still, Riedel soon discovered that the cat’s personality is even bigger than his waistline.
“I found that he prefers to roam around the clinic as the official greeter, rather than live at my house with its lack of constant exposure to admirers,” Riedel told The Dodo. “Fat Fred believes that humans are meant to serve him food at all times.”
The cat’s greatest trick, perhaps, has been convincing people that he’s eating for more than just himself.

However, Fred’s presence has caused some confusion.
In order to clear things up about Fat Fred, Riedel decided to post a sign on the window where he usually lazes:
The truth has been revealed, and the chubby cat is completely unaware of it.
“If Fat Fred could see the sign, he’d probably modify it to say ‘NOT on a diet,” said Riedel.
Fred has started to lose weight owing to his owner’s assistance. He’d lost 25 pounds since his last weigh-in. That’s still a lot of weight, but Fred is generally in good shape.
His hearing, in particular.
“He’s actually quite quick,” Riedel added, “he can hear a morsel drop from one end of the clinic and approach with incredible speed.”
Fred, on the other hand, isn’t expecting a child.
