This is the heartwarming and incredible story of Keanu, a cat rescued from an apartment complex in Belleville, New Jersey. The unfortunate kitten’s jaw was cracked by a severe kick from one of the complex’s maintenance staff. Thankfully, several animal rescuers intervened and saved him, giving him a second chance at life.
According to the rescuers, the complex had many stray cats around, but the new management company didn’t want them and always found ways to chase them away. And suddenly, the poor cats and kittens started to disappear. Some of them were poisoned, injured, and others trapped in crawl spaces and illegal leg hold traps.
Because Keanu was astute, he was able to escape getting caught. As a result, when the rescuers arrived to assist him, he was intrigued by them and just stared at the trap. He was definitely terrified of people after getting kicked in the face and being trapped several times.
“After a few days, I was able to capture him.” He was transported to the vet, who verified that his jaw was cracked and that he had teeth knocked out, but that it didn’t stop him from eating or drinking. Because he is a kitten, the vet opted to let his jaw heal naturally, and they would keep a careful eye on him. “He’s doing great,” remarked one of the rescuers.
The rescuers named him after Keanu Reeves who loves animals. Luckily for him, he found his forever home with 11th-hour rescue. Everyone is so happy to know that the kitten has a new home and beloved owners. To Keanu, life is good, and he surely lives it to the fullest.
