Animal rights advocates from the Wilco Regional Animal Shelter in Texas delivered a cat struck by a vehicle earlier this year. His front right limb sustained several serious injuries and neurological impairment.
A volunteer took the cat in and helped it recuperate. He was subsequently placed with another foster home, where he recovered more. Megyn, the new foster mom, was immediately smitten by the adorable kitten, whom they called Oliver.
Oliver was fascinated by all new toys and, despite his physical restrictions, attempted to run and leap. But most of all, he desired a constant friend.
During this time, Megyn took care of two kittens, Lenny and Carla. When Oliver was ready to meet them, the three got on very well. The kittens were drawn to him like a magnet, and Oliver loved them as if they were his own.
The cat wanted to be near the adopted children all the time, to mess with them and lick them clean. The kittens were fascinated by Oliver and came to him for comfort and consolation.
Oliver was elevated by their purr and caress, which conveyed their vitality to him. “He’s a really kind, pleasant man.” He enjoys being hugged by kitties. We frequently observe adopted kittens cuddling with him rather than with their siblings.”
Oliver continued to look forward to meeting the family of his dreams after Lenny and Carl were adopted into the same family. He was on duty under the door in the hopes that fresh youngsters would be brought in through it because he missed his hugging companions.
As a result, Oliver met the seven-week-old red-striped Sam and immediately took her under his wing. A girl in need of participation and affection was delighted by such a friend.
Oliver offered himself to Sam as a sleeping pillow and even allowed him to play with his tail a little hard. “He is very patient with kittens. He really enjoys their company.”
Then there was Remi, a charming little girl who has had neurological issues since childhood.
Oliver greeted her with wide arms, as if he already understood what she need. He held her and licked her all over, which the kitty enjoyed.
“When kittens are out of reach for him, he often waits for them at the door. Yes, he just wants to be part of a family that has pets,” Megyn shares.
Oliver is much better and happy after months of treatment and recovery. He lives a complete life, even though he stumbles a bit and has lost a few teeth. This cannot be taken away from him.
“He enjoys playing and can use the stairs to leap into my bed.”
“Oliver is open and affectionate, gets along with everyone. He is amazingly nice and enjoys life.
Oliver is still waiting for the volunteers to locate his owners. “He’s gone through a lot, but you’ll only see love for everyone at the core of his life from him.”
