Midori from Japan learned of two kittens that are due to be killed unless they are rescued. She was able to phone the shelter and notify them of her impending arrival, but any longer and it would have been too late. “I waited for my kid to get home from school before going after them,” Midori explains.
Babies with fur Koi and Haku were both very little, measuring barely more than 120 grams apiece. They were not well cared for, yet they managed to live. “It’s amazing they’ve survived this long without proper sustenance.”
Baby Haku held out to his sister, not letting her go for a second. The kittens’ eyes opened after several weeks of round-the-clock care, and it became evident that the mother was dead.
These two blossomed and grew stronger in the foster home. But Haku was still afraid to be alone and demanded vigilant attention from the household.
In Kouya’s absence, Haku fawned over the older cats, who took turns comforting and supporting him.
Midori and her husband understood how much the baby misses his mother and wanted to make his days a bit brighter. They presented him with a soft doll that resembled an expanded version of Haku himself.
When our young hero noticed the large toy cat, he gave her a massage right away. Then I lay down between fluffy paws for asleep.
“Haku came to the shelter as a blind cub, which means he never saw his own mother,” says Midori.
But now a warm and soft plush friend is always waiting for an affectionate kitten.
