When a group of children found a cat outside their apartment building, they brought her home and requested their parents to help them save her.
Her back legs, which were encased in rudimentary casts, had evidently been broken in a previous event.
The parents decided to get in touch with Kathy Hamel, the director of Arizona Shih Tzu and Small Breed Rescue.
“When she was brought to me, a little girl of about four years old, that was one of her rescuers, had named her Cupcake. I told her I loved the name and that she would keep it.
Cupcake was taken to the veterinarian by Kathy to try if they could find out what had happened to her.
After further examination, it was found that her legs were not damaged at all and that they functioned normally, implying that the casts were placed on purpose.
Cupcake was underweight, dehydrated, and starved, despite the fact that her legs were fine.
Cupcake will be able to stay at the rescue facility as she recovers her leg strength.
She must retrain her body to walk on all fours again because of the restrictions of the casts.
The good news is that she already has a family who is ready to adopt her.
Why anyone would be so cruel to do this to Cupcake is beyond me, but luckily it all worked out well in the end.
