Because Pretzel and her two siblings were born with twisted limbs and legs, they were abandoned shortly after birth. Unfortunately, Pretzel’s brother and sister did not survive, but she was a warrior who refused to give up.
Her foster mum Laura Hawthorne says that despite having a heart murmur, abnormal skeletal development, missing bones in her legs, abnormal pelvic development, and an underbite, she “is always very happy, she knows there’s nothing wrong with her, she has no clue that she’s different than any other cat.”
Pretzel was supposed to be Hawthorne’s foster kitten for life until Michelle Harrison watched her video on the internet. “While viewing the movie, she was overcome to tears and decided right then and then that she would be Pretzel’s permanent mum,” Hawthorne said.
“It was quite difficult to say goodbye to her, but I knew she was going to a family where she would be cherished, well-cared for, and lavishly treated,” she continued. Pretzel, a remarkable survivor, eventually found a loving home at the age of eight months.
