A black kitten was found alone on the street a few weeks ago by animal rights activists in Mini Cat Town (in San Jose, California). The kitten, which had enormous deer eyes and paws like a bear cub, was extremely affectionate.
He was taken to an overexposure facility, where he was bathed and fed to his heart’s delight before being warmed up on someone’s knee. The kitty purred at its new human buddy and seemed to only desire cuddles.
“We called him Koda because he resembled a bear cub and was found alone, without his mother,” explains foster mother Laura Maylon. “His eyes have a lot of expressions.”
The following days the kitten demanded to be picked up without any restrictions. He had plenty of soft toys and the undivided attention of the whole family, but Laura knew that he was missing something – a buddy his age to play with.
Around that time, a wild cat with kittens was found in the bushes in a cat colony. No one knew where she came from, but they suggest that she may have been kicked out by the inhabitants of one of the apartments in an apartment building.
The cat family arrived to Laura’s house, where the cat was tasked with raising kittens in a secure environment.
“Mommy eats all the food I gave her before bed and uses the litter box.” She upgraded from the roadside bushes to a private suite with heated mattresses, 24-hour room service, and daily massages.”
Koda spent the rest of the week in a separate room, where he was taken on his knees and cherished by Laura’s entire family while being monitored for any health issues. When Koda saw his humans, he became ecstatic and raced up to them, begging for attention and cuddles.
When the kitten was ready, the kitten would be introduced to the feline family. Laura adds, “For him to have more friends besides myself.”
When the time came, the cat Lavender accepted Koda as her own without hesitation and immediately tried to lick him.
Koda fit in perfectly with the team, began to jump on other kittens and fight.
Coda’s unstoppable energy, geared at always attaining what he wants, had an effect on Lavender, who became more self-assured.
She became more self-assured and at ease in social situations. “I’m pleased of her; it’s reassuring to watch her improve.”
Koda does not allow Lavender to relax, keeps her in good shape with his pranks. He throws himself on her back and wraps his paws around her as if he wants to hug her tightly.
Lavender doesn’t play much, but always puts up with Koda’s antics.
He adores spending time with his siblings and is always up to fun.
Koda cuddles on her guardian’s knee as Lavender’s kittens circle her to suck milk (snack time).
The youngster is adamant about being the center of attention and will not be deterred.
“During the Mini Cat Town directors meeting, Koda was trying to grab my attention, so I scooped him up and let him join the talk,” Laura explains.
Koda and the other kittens will be ready for the next big journey in a few weeks: finding permanent homes.
Lavender and her loving daughter Lilac will be placed in one hand by rescuers so that the cat will always have companionship and will not be bored.
Meanwhile, Koda is in charge of everything in their common area and attracts everyone with his charisma.
