Lisa Kitchen and her husband returned from their honeymoon with a cat named Max, who was still a kitten. The Kitchens’ 19-year-old cat had suddenly died, and the wife longed for a new companion. Max, on the other hand, made it clear from the minute they got him that he preferred Lisa’s husband’s company far more.
“As soon as Max showed up at our house, he instantly became attached to my husband,” says Mrs. Kitchen. He fell asleep on his chest, curled up in a ball. He meowed to ask to be held. But such tenderness did not fall to my share at all.
Max was an incredibly playful and affectionate cat, but for some reason he completely ignored Lisa. He never hugged or played with her, and generally did not pay much attention to her. But one day everything changed.
When the woman came home from work one evening, Max approached her and meowed loudly, as though cat wanted her attention. He continued to raise his voice on occasion during the following few days, so Lisa decided to try caressing the cat.
Surprisingly, he was overjoyed. Mrs. Kitchen was taken aback by the animal’s sudden shift in behavior, but she did not place much emphasis on it. But then Max started approaching her when she was asleep and hugging her.
“When I woke up one day, I felt something heavy and warm in my legs,” recalls Lisa. “The next night, he curled up between my legs—it was a big deal because he had never been in such close contact with me before. Now he sleeps on my stomach. And if I fall asleep with my face in the pillow, then he climbs onto my back.
Lisa began to suspect that all of these shifts were not random. There has to be a reason for Max’s sudden interest in her. She then decided to get a pregnancy test.
Max had a premonition that his human mother was pregnant even before she was aware of it. The cat became her little guardian, keeping the woman’s quiet and giving her love as she carried a young brother or sister for him.
Max remains passionately devoted to Lisa and seeks to be present at all times. He clings to her all the while, and the woman savors every second of the cat’s caress – she has time till June, when the baby is born.
“If he doesn’t know where I’ve gone, he rubs against my legs and calls me out loud,” Mrs. Kitchen adds. – “Max, mom is downstairs!” I have to shout, as he dashes down the stairs to me. In general, I now refer to him like Velcro. Every night, I make a place for my spouse on the bed next to me, and he has now faded into the background for me.
Lisa knows that Max can become suspended again at any moment. Or maybe he is just waiting for the baby to be born in order to switch all his attention and love to the newborn family member.
