Hayden Winter planned to eat dinner and then go to bed when he came home late Tuesday night from work. However, when he entered his bedroom, he found that he’d been beaten to it by someone else.
It’s a cat.
She was snuggled between Winter’s covers and comforter, looking him down as if he were an intruder.
Winter knew her as Fezgin, a local cat who joyfully roams the streets of his Istanbul neighborhood.
“Istanbul is basically a city of cats and dogs,” Winter told “It’s really great — people just feed them and they’re part of the community.”
Fezgin had pushed through a hole in the screen before making herself at home in Winter’s bedroom, as Winter found when he examined his window. He stated that this wasn’t the first time she’d broken in, but she didn’t normally leap into his bed.
Winter described her as “a bit mischievous.” “She’s constantly having a good time.”
Winter took a few images and shared them on Catspotting, a closed Facebook group, where her break-in received a lot of attention.
Fezgin didn’t stay that night, but Winter is considering letting her rest in his room throughout the winter if she needs to.
If she needs the warmth, he’s confident she’ll show there on her own.
“I’m confident she’ll come back,” Winter said. “She’s the boss, like all cats in Istanbul.”
