In the year 2015, a new viral trend emerged. People wondered what would happen if a cucumber was placed behind a cat.
Some felines were unconcerned about the vegetable encroachment, but when they spotted it, they sprang far into the air. Back in the day, videos of similar encounters went popular all over the internet as people attempted to figure out how their own dogs would react to seeing the bright-green vegetable.
Cats, on the other hand, appear to tolerate and even like the same veggie in some situations. One such example was discovered in Finland, when a cat named Mauri developed a particular attachment with a grocery-store cucumber brought home by his owner Heli.
Heli, Mauri’s owner, was contacted by Bored Panda for further information.
“Ever since Mauri was a kitten, he’s been quite interested in whatever meal I’m making, and he typically gets a taste of some cheese or meats.” My regular sandwich includes cucumber slices on top of it, so he’d ultimately get inquisitive about that as well, and because I know cucumber is safe for cats to eat, I’d give him a small amount of it now and again. I suppose he likes how crisp it is because Mauri enjoys crunching on iceberg lettuce on sometimes, but not quite as much as he like cucumbers.”
Meet Mauri, the cucumber-loving cat
Mauri went viral recently this year because unusually enough, it seems that he likes eating cucumbers
“Ever since Mauri was a kitten, he’s been quite inquisitive about whatever dish I’m making, and he generally gets a taste of some cheese or meats,” Mauri’s owner Heli explained.
“I’m aware that cucumber is okay for cats to eat, so I’d give him a small amount of it now and again.” I believe he likes how crunchy it is.”
To see if Mauri would respond to any other type of vegetable similar to cucumber, Mauri’s owner had Mauri try and find a cucumber hidden amongst countless courgettes
Mauri was quick to find his favorite vegetable in practically no time as he sniffed around
The cute feline even has a favorite toy in a shape of a cucumber and enjoys cuddling it
Heli, Mauri’s owner, also launched some merch featuring some cute art of Mauri eating cucumbers
“I never thought it was strange that he liked cucumbers because we used to have a dog that did.” “It was always a regular thing for me,” Heli explained.
