Karina learnt about five kittens in need of care while volunteering with the Animal Welfare League of Arlington’s Kitten College Program. “I was informed they were all from the same brood and were picked up in the Shenandoah area of Virginia,” Karina recalls.
The kittens were anxious for attention at the shelter and meowed at anybody who approached their cage. Karina saw these little, love-hungry faces through the glass and knew she had to assist.
She took the kittens home, where they could begin to socialize in a calm and peaceful environment.
“It took them a while to get comfortable with me, which is understandable, of course.”
Kittens Boo-Boo, Luke, Flower, Lily and Blossom settled comfortably in their new home among beds and blankets here and there. Four of the five immediately huddled on a cozy warm bed (the smallest of all) and purred sweetly.
Luke (grey) and Flower (tricolor) were the smallest and shyest of the team. The foster mother hugged each of them individually for a long time. Lily (striped) has been the most energetic and playful kitty ever since the beginning. She quickly took over the gang.
“She jumps the highest and embodies importunity,” adds Karina.
“It took them a while to get comfortable with me, which is understandable, of course.”

Luke, having become more confident, began to spend more time playing with other kittens. The guy has changed a lot.
“Luke has gone from being a mummy to a gambler actively trying to impress the larger siblings. I am completely satisfied and very proud of them.
Beast, Karina’s cat, is always happy to see kittens brought home by her mistress. He wants to teach them everything himself, so that the students would grow up to be actual cats.
“He’s constantly interested in what’s going on in the kids’ room,” Karina explains.
“I kept the kittens aside from my cats for the first two weeks so that they could get acclimated to each other and to ensure that the new ones were healthy.”
“As soon as I let the kittens go in the house, the Beast morphed into him rather than an elder brother.” He licked them, teased them, and chased them down. He began acting like a cat himself, which is quite endearing to see.
Cat Beast and his brother Sidr came to Karina as kittens at one time, for overexposure. They were able to get into her heart and never leave again.
Now the fluffy gentleman gives his young adoptees the same love that he himself received when he was in their place as a child.
The beast demonstrates how to feed on a dish to the kittens. Tricolor Flower sought to imitate every action of his adult counterpart.
The five kittens have visibly blossomed since their arrival.
Now, these happy, self-confident, restless furries enjoy chatting with their guardians and lounging imposingly on their laps.
Flower, Luke, and Bloom are still too little to be adopted, but Lily and Boo Boo are.
Lily is the only striped one in the brood, and she cares about the other youngsters as an elder sister.
These kittens won’t have to beg for food on the street any longer. They are well on their way to becoming overexposed, and they have a bright future ahead of them.
