After a diagnostic, the team found that she had three litters of kittens and a very rough existence on the streets when she arrived at Oregon Friends of Animals pregnant and flea-infested.
Fortunately, Celeste the cat had arrived at the proper location, and the mother would finally be at ease and be able to give birth in a secure environment.
Angela, a host volunteer commented on this:
“Celeste had lived outside her entire life before she came to me. For most of her life, she had always been a cat mom, even to the point where she got sick. She came to the animal shelter while she was pregnant.
Celeste gave birth to a large brood of kittens just a few days later. Angela chose to take them in and provide a safe environment for her mother and calves.
She was first shy since many things were new to her after spending her entire life on the streets. Fortunately, she was able to adjust to life as an indoor cat and show off her charming nature to the people who looked after her.
Celeste was not just a spoiled cat, but she was also very protective of her kittens, who were growing up in a safe environment away from the perils of the streets.
The kittens needed their mother’s care at all hours of the day and night; it was a difficult labor, but she was always patient and attentive when it came to rearing and feeding her young.
“Being a mother of eight children was quite taxing. Angela described her mother as “such a great and caring mother to her children.”
The cat proved to be an excellent mother, washing, caring for, and grooming her kittens from head to toe. She’d lie on her side for as long as it took to ensure that all of the young were fed evenly.
The enormous litter grew in leaps and bounds, becoming highly playful adventurers as time went.
Celeste was always there for them; if she heard them scream, she would rush out and softly lick them to calm them. The cat was only able to take some time for herself when her children had grown up. Angela had this to say:
Celeste was finally free to relax and simply be herself — a cat – now that her babies were more independent.
He enjoys sunbathing, calmly greeting me each morning, and leaning on other animals.”
Celeste was finally allowed to cease providing her kittens with 24-hour care when they were ten weeks old; now she had to enjoy her new life as an indoor cat and find someone who wanted to adopt her.
“She has been an amazing mother to her babies and deserves to have her own permanent home where she can be the focus of attention.”
She’s the ideal feline companion for unwinding. When it wants to love and snuggle, it will snuggle up close to you and follow you discreetly like your small shadow, brushing against your legs or hands.”
Fortunately, life for Celeste and her pups changed for the better. After three months of arriving at the rescue center, she was adopted and currently spends her days enjoying her new home. Angela commented on this:
“Celeste’s adopters are wonderful and loving people. She even has a new cat sister named Marge.”
