Bella is a long-haired tabby cat with a nice, friendly personality. Bella has been a wonderful companion to her owner, Shawn Bell, for the past ten years simply by being herself.
She recently begun to display one less-than-pleasant facet of her feline nature.
Bella turns out to be a thief.
Nobody knew where those objects came from, but Bell was certain of one thing: they weren’t his. Bella had most likely taken them while out on her nighttime scavenging. She didn’t stop there, either.
Bell stuffed half a trash bag with stolen garments that summer. Bella’s thievery has only become worse in recent months.
“She used to only bring one item of clothing home with her every night,” Bell told The Dodo. “She’s now bringing home two or three a night – or more.”
And all of those stolen garments have been building up.
Bell has placed notices throughout his building in the hopes of reconnecting the clothing with their original owners but to no effect.
He’s been stacking them on a chair outside his house in case somebody recognizes their belongings.
Bell is feeling a bit bad — and a little uncomfortable — about the entire situation.
“Having to constantly buying garments if they keep going missing is a pain,” he remarked. “Then there’s the matter of her underwear, which is starting to make me appear strange.”
That’s correct. Bella has also started snatching people’s undies.
Bell believes that once news gets out about his cat’s nefarious exploits, the person or people Bella has been stealing laundry from will come forward to claim it.
Meanwhile, the cat has yet to realize that saddling her owner with stolen things is a mistake.
“I believe she is pleased with herself,” Bell remarked. “However, she never chooses the correct size or gender for me.”
Regardless, Bell acknowledges that he adores Bella.
“No matter how awful her conduct is, she’s my girl,” Bell stated. “Even though she’s a kleptomaniac, I think she has my unconditional affection.”
