When Sarah Richardson, a cat rescuer in Little Rock, Arkansas, was feeding her feral colony of TNR cats, a new cat arrived out of nowhere.
Sarah had a feeling things wasn’t quite right. The cat was behaving strangely and appeared to be having difficulty traversing the surroundings.
When Sarah attempted to approach the cat, he became terrified . Sarah was resolved to assist him, but she needed to plan ahead.
She set up a soft trap for him since she sensed something was wrong with him. The mystery white cat finally went into the trap after 5 nights of waiting!
Sarah was taken aback when she was able to have a closer look…
Sarah had realized that the cat couldn’t see or hear. He didn’t even realize he was confined.
As though he couldn’t see his surroundings, he wandered around the trap, hitting into the edges.
How had he gotten thus far on his own if he was blind and deaf?
She couldn’t uncover any further harm to his body, despite the fact that he was clearly underweight.
His eyes, on the other hand, were in dreadful shape. Sarah stated, “It was very, really horrible.” “They were almost completely shut.” While he was plainly in agony, Sarah was reminded of Olaf from Frozen by his kind attitude and lovely white fur. As a result, he was given that name!
The next day, Sarah brought Olaf to the vet to obtain some answers and much-needed medical care.
Olaf was both deaf and blind, confirming Sarah’s concerns.
Olaf had entropion, a rare eye ailment that caused his eyelids to curl inward, according to the doctor. As a result, his eyelashes grew inward as well.
Every time he moved his eyelids, this ailment caused harm to his eyes. He had been in severe agony, there was no question about it.
They weren’t sure how much vision Olaf would regain because his eyes had already been severely damaged.
Olaf’s eyelids were sewn in place as a temporary repair to prevent further harm to his eyes.
Olaf seems to be lot more at ease without the continual annoyance.
Olaf still need eye surgery, which he received from a specialist. Sewing his eyes together was just a temporary fix.
Olaf’s operation, on the other hand, was going to be quite costly. Obtaining funds for the procedure would be difficult.
In the realm of cat rescue, cats like Olaf are sometimes killed because rescuers lack the financial resources to perform costly procedures.
Sarah was resolute once more. Susan with FuRR, Feline Rescue & Rehome in Central Arkansas, was contacted.
When she asked whether they might assist Olaf, they eagerly agreed and welcomed him with open arms.
Sarah was able to discover the correct physician for Olaf’s eye surgery because to FuRR.
Olaf was released from the daily torment of his ailment and acquired partial vision as a result of his surgery!
“For the first two weeks after his operation, his eye looked a little harsh,” Sarah remarked. “However, as he opened his eyes, he saw gorgeous blue eyes.”
Olaf had managed to remain in the wild for so long despite being both deaf and blind, according to every vet who saw him!
Sarah worked with FuRR to locate the best location for him to reside while he recovered from surgery. Before he was rescued, Olaf had not had much contact with humans.
He needed to be socialized because he was still shy. Finding a home would be difficult for him, so FuRR came up with a brilliant idea.
Because of Olaf’s specific demands, FuRR decided that he should be adopted by the organization.
“He was able to relocate to a cat sanctuary,” Sarah explained. “Now he has his own cat room, complete with a catio and a cat roommate!” He now has a fantastic appearance.”
Olaf has grown plump and indulged at the sanctuary, and he will be treated for the rest of his life!
Olaf was rescued from an uncertain fate thanks to Sarah and FuRR, and he was given a great home where he would always be secure and cherished.
Olaf will never again have to worry about becoming sick and ending up on the streets!
