An office cat called Sir Whines-A-Lot kept mysteriously bringing money into the office and nobody had any idea how.
Upon arriving at work one morning, GuRuStu founder Stuart McDaniel noticed some cash on the floor near the glass door where Sir Whines-A-Lot likes to sunbathe and people-watch. This continued to happen and Stuart was baffled as to where the cash came from.
“It kept happening, but we didn’t know why. So we decided to test a theory,” explains Stuart. “We tried sliding money through the gap in the door, and the cat hopped up and snatched it.”
Stuart realized that this playful kitty had been luring passersby to the glass to “play” with him, and the toy that could fit perfectly through the slot in the glass would be a dollar bill.
“I’m guessing the first people didn’t intend to lose their dollar,” said Stuart. “They probably put it in to mess with him, and he snatched it. When you hold money there, he’ll bat at it playfully at first, like, ‘Oh, that’s kinda fun.’ But then all of a sudden he’ll bite it and rip it from your hand. He does it so fast, you don’t even realize what’s happened.”
Stuart decided that the best thing to do with the money was to give it to charity, so now there is a sign for people to see that their dollar bill will be going towards helping the homeless at a nearby day center.
So far, Sir Whines-A-Lot has raised over $1000 — donated under his pseudonym: CASHnip Kitty.
