Hannah Shaw aka Kitten Lady is a neonatal kitten warrior and she spends a lot of her time rescuing and fostering tiny kittens. She has some great advice if you are considering becoming a foster parent.
In this video Hannah has been given two fosters kitties to take care of. One is them is just a few days old and the other one is her 9 month-old mom!
This beautiful gray tabby was surrendered to an animal shelter when she was pregnant and one morning when the staff arrived they discovered that she had given birth to two kittens.
Sadly one of them didn’t survive. One of the first things Hannah has to do is assess how well the young mama, now named Pine, is looking after her only kitten named Twinkle.
She needs to know if Twinkle is getting enough milk and if Pine is helping her baby stay clean.
Because Pine is so young and also because she was abandoned by her human family to a shelter, it was clear that this new mum was stressed out, so Hannah made sure that Twinkle was getting enough calories to help her grow and was encouraging to Pine in every way possible.
It’s always a beautiful thing to see a mama cat with her baby and with Hannah nearby to help and encourage, this very young kitty is becoming a wonderful mother to Twinkle.
Hannah says: “SPAY AND NEUTER! Kittens shouldn’t be having kittens, folks. Did you know that a kitten can get pregnant as young as 4 months of age? That’s why you should always spay and neuter kittens before they reach 4 months of age–to prevent pregnancy and stop the teen cat mom epidemic!”
