Hira Khalid had recently adopted a cat named Bilu from the NKLA Pet Adoption Center in Los Angeles. The cat quickly settled in to her new home and loved her new mom very much.
“He’s the most affectionate, caring cat,” explains Hira. “I’m honestly so lucky that I got him because he’s so friendly — he goes and sits on anyone’s lap and starts purring, and cuddles with them on their chests.”
But then Hira was invited on a week-long trip to Mexico with her friends, she asked her family to cat sit but her dad was convinced that Bilu would be messy, just like their old family cat Bubba.
He was an “indoor outdoor” cat and used to come home very muddy and leave footprints everywhere.
So she told her parents that Bilu was potty trained and it would be okay if he stayed inside for a week.
So they agreed and while Hira was away she constantly worried whether her new kitty was getting along with her parents, but thankfully she heard no complaints so she thought everything must be going fine.
After a few days she received a surprise – her dad sent pictures of Bilu snuggled against his neck!
Hira was delighted because usually her dad had a bad impression of cats but obviously if one was around for long enough it gave him the chance to see just how amazing they are.
When she returned from her vacation to pick up Bilu she could sense that her parents hated to see Bilu go.
Well, they could always go and pay Bilu a visit sometime!
