Maggie Welz was devastated when her cat, Tiger, disappeared. They had spent three happy years together when one day Tiger slipped away through an open door and didn’t come back.
But there was always a part of Maggie that refused to give up, even after her precious kitty had been missing for many years.
When the Welz family decided to move house, Maggie asked the new owners if it was okay to keep an eye out for Tiger, just in case.
The miracle happened thanks to the kind heart of Dutchess County SPCA staff member Carole O’Connor. She had noticed the same stray cat going about his business in her neighborhood over the course of three years.
On a whim she decided to see if the kitty was microchipped, she learned his name and was able to see his family’s contact information.
Carole discovered that the cat had been missing from his home for about 11 years.
With joy in her heart, she contacted Maggie and the shelter managed to capture photos of Tiger’s reunion for the world to see.
It was a beautiful moment that sparked hope in many cat owner’s hearts.
Everyone is happy to hear Tiger and Maggie will have each other in the years to come. It’s a beautiful ending that gives hope to all the families that have missing pets.
