Every day, there are numerous cats and dogs wandering the streets. Some of them are stray dogs and cats, but the others are discarded by their former owners. These animals have to roam the streets, dig in trash cans looking for food, and are easily beaten by people who hate animals. They are susceptible to disease and may die from starvation or extreme coldness. Fortunately, there are volunteer organizations willing to rescue those cats and dogs, bring them to shelter, give them nutritious meals and a warm blanket to sleep. The story of Phoenix below is an example that proves rescuing is a great way to help poor animals.
Phoenix was a stray cat with light yellow fur and eyes of different colors – one is blue and the other is yellow. He was discovered while wandering near a trash can on the street. When he was brought back by the animal rescuers, Phoenix looked exhausted and always wary. His feathers were stuck together and fur on his face and neck had partly gone. He seemed to need medicine to help his fur grow back.
Rescuers quickly brought Phoenix to the vet for a checkup. Here he was also washed clean, had a full meal after a long time starving on the street, and was treated carefully with medicine to help his fur grow again.
Over the course of a few weeks, his fur gradually returned and became the original white.
But even though he started looking better, he was still not very happy! People wondered why Phoenix was so upset. They tried to bring Phoenix a cat friend, but Phoenix refused and just looked away.
Meanwhile, the rescue team received an emergency call, there were 3 newborn cats needing rescue. They quickly got the 3 cats to the shelter. Ruby was one of them.
She was too tiny to eat any food. She was given a warm nest and a tiny bottle of milk. She also showed herself as a good girl when she drank milk very well.
Soon Ruby grew up so fast and she became a furry friend. She begins to approach Phoenix – the Lonely cat. On the first try, she touched Phoenix’s hand, she got ignored. Then she tried to touch his face, Phoenix was still too sad and didn’t show any interest in the little cat.
Unbelievable! Phoenix started to lick Ruby!
They quickly befriended and played with each other all the time. Phoenix gradually became more active and no longer sad. Little Cat Ruby is the perfect cure for Phoenix. We can help Phoenix and Ruby from getting hungry and sick, but what makes them truly happy is true friendship.
