A teenage boy was shocked to find a poor kitten dyed in a shocking shade of pink displayed at Isa Town Market in Bahrain.
Bilal Aslam, a 17-year-old boy, decided to take action and save the poor kitty from its horrible living situation. Aside from its unusual coloring, the feline he nicknamed “Pinky” was left with very little food and water and was locked in a hot cage.
Determined to make the world aware of such animal cruelty, Aslam decided to a post photos of Pinky on Facebook trigerring public outrage. Luckily, the disturbing photos reached animal charity SCPA , which quickly responded to save the abused cat.
“She has been given a thorough veterinary examination, but our vet has some concerns over a possible allergic reaction to the dye that was used,” said Mahmood Fharaj, chairman of SCPA.
“Our next task was a thorough wash to remove the dye. Unfortunately it will take a few more washes before she is back to her normal colour,” he added.
Aslam revealed that the vendor must have used wall paint to dye Pinky as he observed a pungent smell.
Because of the stomach-churning incident, animal activists will be more vigilant particularly at the market where Pinky was sold to prevent similar incidents.
As for Pinky, she is now in a stable condition and will soon be rehomed after all the dye has been removed.
Meet Pinky, a four-month-old kitten who was rescued by Bilal Aslam at Isa Town Market in Bahrain.
Outraged by what he saw, the teenage boy decided to post photos of Pinky on Facebook.
Animal charity SCPA noticed Aslam’s posts and immediately took action to save the cat.
Sadly, the practice of dyeing animals is quite common in the world.
Dogs, chicks, as well as rabbits had fallen victims to this cruel practice.
Dog Whisperer Caesar Milan warned that hair dyes designed for humans may potentially harm animals.
There’s also a possibility that animals will lick its coat while the dye is still wet.
“Pets do not understand why they are being subjected to this type of treatment, nor do they like it, because it is unnatural for them,” Cesar Milan said.
It’s obviously a form of animal abuse.
KITTIES SPRAY PAINTED
This poor kitty is exactly why you don’t give kittens away for free. She appears to be spray painted. This was deliberately done and is a common practice used by dog fighters to mark bait kittens. They use these kittens to get the dogs all riled up, then they let the dogs kill them horribly. She is now safe with Animal Rescue of Tracy and is a very sweet girl.
As full as Rescues & Shelters are with kittens right now, it is so much better to care for kittens if at all possible and continue to NETWORK them until a Rescue or Shelter has room rather than just give kittens away. Free kittens are also used for FOOD for snakes & other reptiles. This is just as horrible a way to die as being bait for dog fighting. We all like to think it doesn’t happen near us, but as you can see, it does.
Be part of the solution by NOT allowing this to happen through EDUCATION, spaying/neutering & speaking out!
there should be much tougher laws for ill treating any animal. This is so sad.
