MacKenzie Allmon of North Little Rock, Arkansas, is a passionate animal lover who is a cat and dog person, as well as a rat person as the happy owner of four pet rats.
Allmon claims that her animals are her entire world. But she had no idea how much some of her pets would adore one other until she discovered her cat Jagger in an unexpected spot one day.
Jagger first appeared in Allmon’s life a year ago, when he was a little kitten. He was actually born in Allmon’s garage.
“In our former area, there was a flea market nearby, and people would give away kittens there — but at the end of the day, if they still had any left, they would just leave them loose,” Allmon told.
One of the stray cats seemed friendly if a touch stocky around the waist. Allmon stated, “We took her in and she ended up producing kittens in our garage.”
Allmon and her family found the mother cat and all of her kitten’s homes — except for one kitten with whom Allmon felt a particularly strong bond. “I just couldn’t give him up,” she said.
Allmon returned eight months later to take up a few of rescued pet rats. She then took in a few more. Willow, Jasmine, Eevee, and Sadie, her four new furry family members, had a spacious, safe habitat built for them, but she didn’t sure how Jagger would respond to the newcomers.
“Jagger has adored other animals, especially dogs since he was a child,” Allmon added. “However, I had no idea what to anticipate when I got my rats.”
Then one day, Willow managed to escape the rat habitat.
Allmon looked all over the house — and discovered something adorable.
Allmon stated, “I discovered her and Jagger snuggling in a cage.”
This wasn’t a one-time occurrence.
“They’ve been inseparable since then,” Allmon added. “They like to wrestle with each other and follow each other around the home.”
Jasmine, Eevee and Sadie have also struck up a friendship with Jagger.But Willow still holds a special place in Jagger’s heart.
“Willow is absolutely his favorite,” Allmon added. “She’s the one who began it all, the one who got out and cuddled with him initially. They are completely devoted to one other.”
